So Does That Make Obama 50x More Empathetic Than Romney?

By: Thursday September 27, 2012 10:37 am

A perfect example of why Mitt Romney is a bad candidate is how even at this late date he can’t figure out a way to talk about his own signature health care reform law. Romney has never found a way to deal with the fact that in design Romneycare and Obamacare are very similar, yet [...]

It’s a Tax!

By: Friday June 29, 2012 11:37 am

Yesterday the Supreme Court ruling in favor of the Affordable Care Act was seen as a serious disappointment to Conservatives who hoped the entire law would be struck down, but they did at least get a political consolation prize from Chief Justice John Roberts. Roberts declared that the sole reason the individual mandate is constitutional [...]

Obama Didn’t Lose Today

By: Thursday June 28, 2012 3:47 pm

Taking a moment to look at the political implications from today’s Supreme Court ruling on the Affordable Care Act I think the best that can be said is that President Obama didn’t lose. The Court did, for the most part, rule in his favor. He has bragging rights, and importantly, it doesn’t mean Obama completely [...]

The Health Care Lose-Lose Scenario Facing Democrats

By: Friday June 22, 2012 12:14 pm

With the Supreme Court ruling on the Affordable Care Act only days away, I have tried to play out all the potential ways the Court could rule and what they would mean on a purely political level this election. As best as I can tell, any Court decision is likely to be either a political [...]

By: Friday March 23, 2012 2:05 pm

What was said: Mitt Romney used an op-ed in USA Today to again reaffirm his commitment to completely repealing and replacing ‘ObamaCare’ if elected. From USA Today op-ed “Romney: Why I’d repeal ObamaCare” Friday is the second anniversary of ObamaCare. It is past time to abolish the program, root and branch. The Supreme Court will [...]

The GOP’s Potential Gingrich Problem

By: Friday December 16, 2011 4:32 pm

The recent AP-GfK poll of adults contains some really bad news for President Obama. His job approval rating is 44 percent approve to 54 percent disapprove. Support for Obama’s signature health care reform law has now dropped to its new low of 29 percent compared to 49 percent oppose. Most importantly for the first time [...]

If Only Democrats Had Used Reconciliation to Pass Health Care

By: Friday October 14, 2011 5:00 pm

Democrats had the option to pass a health care reform bill quickly using reconciliation after it become clear the law would never get broad bipartisan support. Despite the Democrat’s lies about the process they used to avoid making it actually progressive, a decent bill could have been passed using the process even without breaking Senate [...]

VT Gov. Peter Shumlin Still Popular after Passing Very Progressive Health Care Reform

By: Wednesday August 3, 2011 3:01 pm

Vermont’s new Democratic Governor Peter Shumlin has become more popular since his close election in 2010 according recent PPP polling. 45% of voters approve of Shumlin to 36% who disapprove. The good news for him is that he’s on narrowly positive ground with independents at 41/34. The bad news is that he has virtually no [...]

Obama Administration Tries to Tempt Congressional Democrats into Political Suicide

By: Thursday July 7, 2011 11:40 am

Apparently the White House is back handing out extremely bad political advice to Congressional Democrats to get their support for a big partisan austerity package that includes Medicare and Social Security benefits cuts. All I simply recommend is that Congressional Democrats remember the last political advice the Obama administration gave before a big vote, when they promised the popularity of corporatist health care reform law would soar after it was passed.

Americans Don’t Feel Better Off Than they Were 2 1/2 Years Ago

By: Friday June 24, 2011 1:57 pm

The big political problem, is that regular people effective don’t feel like they are better off than they were 2 1/2 years ago. While there is still time for the economy to turn around before November 2012 neither the Federal Reserve is not predicting a speedy recovery nor does there seem to be any help coming from Congress.
