FDL’s Election Projection Challenge – Place Your Bets
Posted in: 2010 election
FDL will be featuring extensive election night coverage across the country, including the much-anticipated results of Prop 19. And the morning after, everyone will of course be diagnosing “what happened” with 20/20 hindsight. But who really did call the races in advance?
You can place your predictions in the FDL Election Projection Vault (patent pending), which will remain locked until the results are known. So, put on your finest Amazing Kreskin hat, and lay your bets.
- How many House seats will Democrats hold in the 112th Congress?
- How many Senate seats will Democrats hold in the 112th Congress?
- Will California’s Proposition 19 pass?
- What will the final percentage be for “Yes” on Prop 19?
To make things easier, we’ll follow the convention of most contests by counting Bernie Sanders as a Democrat because he caucuses with Democrats in the Senate. Joe Lieberman? Well, if he continues to caucus with the Democrats, he counts toward the D number; if he flips next week, well, you and the Democrats will have to count him out. However, any other third party candidates (such as Charlie Crist or Lisa Murkowski) would be counted as “other.”
Rules: You can enter multiple times, but only your final entry will count. If there are two winners, the first entry will take precedence.
1st prize: A DVD of the documentary the Emperor of Hemp, plus a $50 gift certificate for merchandise in the Just Say Now store.
2nd & 3rd prizes: An autographed copy of Matt Taibbi’s new book, Griftopia: Bubble Machines, Vampire Squids, and the Long Con That Is Breaking America -OR- an autographed copy of Arianna Huffington’s new book, Third World America.
The “experts” are all over the map on this election, and so is the polling. And everyone is wildly hedging their bets. Can you beat them all?
We’ll all find out together Tuesday night as the results come in. Place your bets and join us Tuesday for FDL’s complete election coverage!
