The bulk of the Republican base has come around to accepting that Mitt Romney will be their nominee. According to Pew Research 74% of Republicans and Republican leaning voters think he will definitely get the nomination.
In addition the poll found that a plurality of the GOP base now feels that continuing the primary is a bad thing.
At this point it is clear that Rick Santorum has over stayed his welcome. Very few Republicans think he has a chance of winning, and most think that by keeping the primary going he is hurting the party’s prospects.
During the primary Santorum did a great job raising his profile and increasing his potential as a spokesman for the conservative movement. But he is now starting to run the risk of undoing his brand, especially if he is seen as damaging the party by continuing a clearly doomed campaign.

Under ordinary circumstances, I’d be happy that the Republicans were engaged in fractious internecine warfare among a Christofascist spoiler, a clueless moneybags and a hypocritical egomaniac, but given the nature of the Democratic incumbent, I’m not sure I really give a shit.
,
There are many more candidates for the many other elected offices on the ballots in the remaining primary elections. Oh, really? Yes, and the precincts have to test the voting machines and vote-counting process in real time to make sure the results can be rigged in November.
The banksters have decided Mitt is their man. Watch as they groove POTUS to him in another in a series of….

We’re all in the same boat.
Each party has a base to which they pay only lip-service, and that they inflame for the purpose of the ‘electoral show’.
Both parties share a ‘real’ base, to which they are subservient, and that base is made up the 1% and their representatives who pay the cost of the election campaigns that provide the thin veneer of legitimacy to what is otherwise a transparent criminal enterprise.

It isn’t like I intend to give either party my vote. It’s third party or bust for me.

No doubt that is true. But I don’t like my seat. Got a nail in it.
Well put, esecially for a marsupial.
Like your description of the remaining GOP clown car occupants. Right on target.
Two parties. One a bunch of crooks, liars, and basically despicable bastards. The other a bunch of useless and clueless political imbeciles. BOth sides bought and paid for by the 1%.
We need Mighty Mouse.
Only one?
