The Denver Post has called the Colorado Senate race for incumbent Democrat Michael Bennet. Bennet narrowly beat Republican Ken Buck, ensuring that Democrats keep at least 52 seats in the Senate.
The Washington State senate race between incumbent Democrat Patty Murray and Republican Dino Rossi still remains too close to call. With 65 percent of precincts reporting, Murray holds a 14,000-vote lead, and given the nature of the outstanding ballots, the most likely result is that Murray will narrowly win.
Late last night, Democratic old bull Jim Oberstar was defeated in MN-08 by Chip Cravaack. Surprisingly, the extremely flawed GOP nominee Raul Labrador managed to ride the wave and beat incumbent Walt Minnick in ID-01. One rare piece of good news for Democrats in the House is that Colleen Hanabusa’s beat incumbent Republican Charles Djou in HI-02. Djou only won the seat in a special election earlier this year because weird rules allowed two Democrats to appear on the ballot, resulting in a split vote.
There are currently five governors’ races (OR, CT, ME, IL, MN) that are still too close to call. In Florida, Democrat Alex Sink conceded to Rick Scott, and in the Vermont governor’s race, Republican Brian Dubie has conceded to Democrat Peter Shumlin.

Is this thing working??
WOW!
I thought I might be dreaming, but no, it does appear the sun rose this morning! Not sure when the world as we know it is supposed to end, but I’m pretty sure it is now since all those folks that came here telling us what would happen if the GOP won the House said so.
At least we got one more day!
So glad Bennett won and now we need Murray to win. The worst outcome of the Senate races would be if I had to listen to Lieberman talk about switching parties. And, I’m quite certain that if it would be to his advantage,(and he could feel important again) he would switch.
I appreciate why the speculation on Lieberman switching is tempting to indulge in, but personally, I’d like not to hear that name again until we actually have to deal with him.
Has anyone else noticed that the markets are down today? I thought there’d be some joy among the investor class after Democrats proved yesterday just how effective they are at depressing the American people’s enthusiasm for real change.
Kitzhaber is likely to pull it out; he’s about 10,000 votes behind but there are around 100,000 votes still to count, all from Multnomah County (central Portland). He’s won the Multnomah vote 70/30 so far, so if that margin holds or is even close in the remaining ballots left to count, Dudley can’t make it.
OregonLive (The Oregonian website) all but calls it for Kitzhaber.
I think the media is unwilling to call any race for the person currently losing, even when all evidence is that a switch is likely. Confuses the rubes, and makes people think the media drove the result somehow. But all the evidence is that Kitzhaber has won a historic (but non-consecutive) third term in Oregon.
Big R win was priced into equities in advance. The relevant cliche is buy on anticipation, sell on the news.
No media coverage including NPR that questioned whether Citizens United might have had an impact on the election. The U.S. corporate media is a disgrace.
The U.S. corp media is CORPORATE. No more need to be said.
Well, except corps have been working on taking over the USG for a long time, and little-by-little. They got rid of that shameful (/s) concept that the airwaves belong to the public as one of their first acts in the ongoing effort.
CU is just their most recent victory.
Portland OR, one of the few remaining bastions for progressive thinking.
Or the spectacle of the BP Oil disaster in the Gulf playing out day after day for months while Obama and his people cravenly lied to cover it up … Odd that no one mentions this water pollution and dead bird albatross Obama hung around his own neck.

Does anyone know anything about the buzz that Obama, in a gesture of bipartisanship, has agreed to go on Rush Limbaugh’s radio program. By the time the Republicans are through with him he’ll want to move to Kenya.
Everyone is in a holding pattern until the Fed announces the end of the dollar in an hour.
NBC has called it for Bennett as well.
AP as well.
Folks it’s time to dump Obama. The GOP have what they wanted, they have the House ,the Senate is cratering with all the spineless creeps who pretend to be Dems & the GOP has an ally in the WH,a corporate shill.
It’s time to wake up…what is it going to take…..Obama appointed a commission to look at social security….now he has all the excuse in the world to do what the Banksters want him to do…..open the door so they can get their grubby hands on your social security dollars.
Stop thinking that Obama has your best interest at heart folks.Look,at his stance on the FORECLOSURE FRAUD….what else do you need to see for chrissakes! He does not care about ordinary Americans.
